Coach Ian Daley, our dynamic leader, has been the face of Old Bridge youth basketball for over 20 years. His unwavering approach, passion, commitment and sense of pride has produced winning players and teams at every age group. A strong emphasis on fundamentals is the core of his approach to developing young players. In addition to directing camps and clinics in Old Bridge for more than 15 years, Coach Ian leads the off-season training and conditioning program for the Old Bridge boys’ varsity basketball team. He founded and head coached the Garden State Knights AAU basketball program and most recently the Hoops Academy, one of the most competitive AAU programs in the state.
Coach Ian is a graduate of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore where he was a basketball and track standout, twice-earning membership on the NCAA Division 1 All-American Track & Field team. In 1983 Coach Ian became the youngest NCAA Division 1 Head Track & Cross-Country Coach when he entered the coaching ranks at his Alma Mater. During his tenure, he received numerous awards, including “Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Coach of the Year” honors. He was elected to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hall of Fame in 2004.

Coach Mehdi brings a wealth of passion and commitment to the program. He played two years of varsity basketball for Old Bridge High School. Afterwards, he led the Middlesex County College basketball team as the team captain for two years. His leadership on and off the court earned him an Academic All-American award and an academic scholarship to Rutgers Business School.
Coach Mehdi prides himself on his involvement with the local youth programs. In 2017 he founded a local basketball program which has since joined forces with the OB Hoops family. He has coached AAU and Travel basketball for over five years. His passion for basketball and mentoring the youth are evident in his commitment to the kids and the community.

Coach Femi has coached at the AAU and travel level for over five years. A three-year varsity player at Old Bridge High School, he was best known for his sweet stroke, which earned the best shooter in Middlesex County and one of the best in the state of New Jersey! His ability caught the eye of multiple Division 2 and Division 3 schools. He opted to go to William Paterson University where he discovered a love for training and developing the youth. As a successful youth basketball coach, he has won multiple league and tournament championships. Coach Femi prides himself of the betterment of young athletes on and off the court.

Giovanni Castro began his coaching career in 2010. Since then his focus has been to teach core fundamentals and teamwork values to help youth athletes improve their skills and knowledge of the game of basketball. The same qualities that drive him to be successful working hard and setting high standards are the same ones he uses at practice. His first group of girls-the Class of 2018, are playing at elite high schools and are the recipients of several D1 scholarships. Coach Castro’s 2nd team of girls-the Class of 2022, already has young ladies enrolled at the basketball powerhouses Rutgers Prep and St. Johns Vianney.  Basketball has been his life-long passion before he began coaching so it is quite natural that his undying love for the game eventually begins to infect those he coaches. As a result, Coach Castro is always willing to put the time and energy into turning any of his girls who show promise and dedication into an elite player.

Coach Dennis, a resident of Old Bridge, begins his fourth year as an Assistant Coach with the Old Bridge Hoops Academy.  Coach Dennis has three sons, one in Rutgers, a second is a catcher at Kean University and the youngest is in his final year in the OBHA program.  He has mastered in-game statistics, instrumental in guiding the coaching staff’s objective game-time decisions. For the last twelve years, Coach Dennis has served on the Executive Board at Sayrewoods South Little League.  He is also a savvy baseball mind as he has managed his three son’s Little League teams to a combined 14 district titles.

Coach Michael Guidetti is tremendously passionate and knowledgeable about the game of basketball. He has coached the Woodbridge Middle School boys’ basketball team for the last four years, leading them to the championship game the last three years. His experience includes assisting on a highly respected and successful coaching staff along with leading basketball camps for over twenty-five years. Coach Michael believes that in order to be successful, one must always be willing to work hard in practice and when playing or coaching a game. His passion and desire for the game reflect in how he once played and continues in how he coaches.

Marcus Crawford

Marcus Crawford is a resident of Old Bridge and graduate of Old Bridge High School, has played at the highest levels of basketball including the Florida International University men’s basketball team. After college, he began working at various camps and clinics and volunteering with the Old Bridge High School boys’ basketball team. Marcus is one of the most dynamic young trainers in the area. His ability to assess, train, mentor and educate young players has been a valuable asset to the Old Bridge Hoops Academy. He is committed to providing first-class training and development for youth basketball in Old Bridge.

Joshua Daniell

Coach Josh began his basketball journey playing in Old Bridge’s Jonas Salk Middle School. His experience playing in the Old Bridge Travel program began under Coach Ian himself! He attended St. Patrick High School in Elizabeth and played on the varsity team coached by Kevin Boyle. His team consisted of various Division 1 athletes and NBA players such as Kyrie Irving, Michael Kidd Gilchrist and Corey Fisher. During his high school career, he played in AAU tournaments as part of Team Jordan coached by Peter Marston. After graduating from St. Patrick, he received a Division 1 scholarship to Wagner College in Staten Island coached by Dan and Bobby Hurley Jr. and later played for one year at Ramapo College of New Jersey. Coach Josh has been an assistant director at the Kevin Boyle Basketball Camp, Marston Athletics Camp, and Old Bridge Basketball Summer Camp. In addition, he is now entering his third season of touring with the Harlem Globetrotters! To Coach Josh basketball is more than just a game; it is an opportunity to learn about life.

Joe Ross

Joe Ross is a 2016 graduate of Ithaca College has an extensive basketball background. He was a three-year varsity starter and captain at East Brunswick High School. He led the team in scoring, free throw percentage, and three-point field goal percentage, netting the program sixty wins in three years. Joe went on to play basketball at Ithaca College where he specialized as a three-point shooter. In 2012-2013, he was part of the most successful team in Ithaca College history, reaching the Division III Sweet 16. He has valuable experience in coaching at both the youth and collegiate levels. He spent one season as a student assistant at Cornell University where he helped the coaching staff with day-to-day tasks, player workouts, and video coordinator duties. Additionally, he has coached at camps including Cornell Basketball Camp, Hoop Group Elite Camp, Monroe Sports Center Camp, Old Bridge Basketball Camp, and East Brunswick Basketball Camp. Joe has over three years’ experience as a skills trainer/shooting coach. He has worked with clients ranging from beginners to overseas professionals. In addition to coaching and personal training, Joe also works for the NBA at the Replay Center in Secaucus, NJ.
